Quotes & Orders

How do I request a quotation?

Contact Tersus with the products or services you are interested in, the anticipated quantities, and the project delivery location. Providing the requested delivery date and any relevant site or application information will also help us prepare an accurate quotation.

For projects where the appropriate product or quantity has not yet been determined, Tersus can review available site information and help develop a recommended approach before preparing the quotation.

How do I place an order?

If our quotation is acceptable, an authorized representative may sign and date the quotation and email the executed copy to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

If your organization requires a purchase order, please include it with the signed quotation and reference the applicable Tersus quotation number and date.

Orders are subject to acceptance by Tersus. We will confirm the order after reviewing product availability, delivery requirements, and applicable account and payment terms.

Do I need a purchase order?

A purchase order is not required unless your organization requires one. If your organization uses purchase orders, please provide a purchase order that references the applicable Tersus quotation number and date.

All purchase orders are subject to written acceptance by Tersus.

Shipping & Delivery

How are Tersus products shipped?

Most Tersus products are shipped by less-than-truckload (LTL) or full truckload (FTL) freight, depending on the quantity, packaging, delivery location, and project schedule.

Bulk products, including soybean oil, may also be delivered by tanker truck.

Tersus will select an appropriate carrier and transportation method unless the Buyer specifies a preferred method in writing when accepting the quotation.

What information does Tersus need to schedule my delivery?

Before scheduling a shipment, Tersus will ask you to confirm the delivery address, receiving hours, requested delivery date, primary and backup site contacts, and the individuals who should receive shipment updates.

We will also need to know about any site-specific delivery requirements, such as limited access, security procedures, delivery appointments, unloading equipment, or other conditions that could affect the carrier.

Tersus may provide a Logistics Questionnaire to collect this information before shipment.

When should I expect my order to arrive?

Shipment and delivery dates are estimates and depend on product availability, carrier capacity, transit conditions, and timely receipt of the information needed to arrange transportation.

For standard LTL shipments, delivery dates can vary because the carrier consolidates freight and makes multiple deliveries along its route. If your project requires a narrow delivery window, a dedicated truck or other transportation arrangement may be necessary.

Tersus recommends scheduling delivery before contractor mobilization whenever practical to allow for potential transportation delays.

If Tersus becomes aware that an estimated shipment date cannot be met, we will provide an updated estimated schedule.

Can I request a delivery appointment or special delivery services?

Yes. Please identify any special delivery requirements when placing your order.

Available services may include delivery appointments, liftgate service, pallet jack service, inside delivery, time-specific delivery, limited-access delivery, and special requirements for secure or restricted facilities.

Additional freight charges may apply for these services. Standard freight delivery is generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

What are the requirements for bulk tanker deliveries?

Bulk tanker deliveries require additional coordination. Tersus will provide a Bulk Tanker Delivery Logistics Questionnaire before shipment to confirm the receiving conditions at the site.

Information may include the delivery window, site contacts, who will pump the product from the tanker, required hose length, tank connection size and configuration, safety requirements, access restrictions, and required delivery documentation.

The Buyer is responsible for providing adequate access to the receiving tank or other suitable receptacle so the tanker can be unloaded safely and efficiently.

What unloading equipment will I need?

Receiving requirements depend on the type and size of the shipment.

Most palletized freight requires a loading dock or forklift for unloading. A pallet jack may also be needed to position pallets for unloading. Liftgate service may be available for some smaller shipments but must generally be arranged in advance and may involve an additional charge.

Totes, full pallets of drums, and other heavy shipments typically require suitable unloading equipment at the delivery location.

What should I do when my shipment arrives?

Inspect the shipment before signing the delivery receipt or Bill of Lading. Confirm the number of containers or pallets received and inspect the shipment for visible damage, shortages, leaks, or other problems.

Any damage or shortage should be described specifically on the carrier's delivery receipt before it is signed. Take photographs of the shipment and the signed delivery receipt and notify Tersus as soon as possible.

If a product is damaged to the point that it cannot be used, or if a hazardous-material shipment is leaking, do not accept the affected freight and contact Tersus immediately.

Any shortage, excess quantity, incorrect shipment, damage, or product defect should be reported to Tersus as soon as possible after delivery. Prompt reporting allows Tersus to address shipping issues while carrier documentation and delivery details are still available.

Detailed instructions are available on Tersus' Procedures for Receipt of Freight & Signing Delivery Receipts page.

Payment & Terms

What are Tersus' standard payment terms?

Payment is due in U.S. Dollars prior to shipment unless the Buyer has been approved for Tersus credit terms or COD payment.

Payment terms for approved open accounts are Net 30 days.

Payment is not contingent on the Buyer's ability to collect or obtain funds from its client, project owner, or any other party.

Does Tersus offer credit terms?

Yes. Qualified customers may apply for Tersus credit terms. Approved open accounts are generally provided Net 30-day payment terms.

New customers or customers without approved credit terms are generally required to make payment in full prior to shipment.

Credit approval and limits are determined by Tersus and may be reviewed or changed based on account history and other relevant factors.

When will I be invoiced?

Tersus' standard practice is to issue an invoice for each order after the order has shipped.

If an order includes multiple shipments, separate invoices may be issued as each shipment is completed. Any different billing arrangement will be identified in the applicable quotation or order documentation.

What payment methods does Tersus accept?

Tersus accepts payment by company check, ACH, and wire transfer.

Credit card payments may also be accepted and are subject to a 3.5% convenience fee.

Payment instructions are provided with the applicable quotation or invoice.

Is an early payment discount available?

Yes. Approved open-account customers may take a 1.5% discount when payment is made within 10 days.

The early payment discount is available for payments made by check or ACH and does not apply to credit card payments.

What happens if an invoice becomes past due?

Amounts not paid when due are subject to a finance charge of 2% per month (24% annually), as permitted by applicable law.

The Buyer is also responsible for applicable collection costs, including reasonable attorney fees, court costs, and other expenses incurred by Tersus in collecting past-due amounts, as provided in Tersus' Terms and Conditions.

Returns & Cancellations

Can I return a product?

Products may not be returned without prior written approval from Tersus.

Approved returns must be in their original condition and consist of unused, unopened bags or containers. Returns are subject to a 25% restocking fee, and return freight charges are the responsibility of the Buyer. Original shipping charges are non-refundable.

No returns will be accepted more than 30 days after the date of delivery.

Are special-order products returnable?

Products ordered specifically for a Buyer, including products not normally carried in Tersus inventory, are generally not returnable.

If Tersus orders products based on an estimate provided by the Buyer, or orders products that are not normally carried in inventory, the Buyer is responsible for purchasing all such products unless Tersus is able to resell them at the same price and under substantially the same terms and conditions within 30 days after receiving the products.

Is there a restocking fee for returned products?

Yes. Approved returns of unused, unopened products are subject to a 25% restocking fee.

Return freight charges are the responsibility of the Buyer, and original shipping charges are non-refundable.

Can I cancel an order after it has been placed?

Contact Tersus as soon as possible if you need to cancel an order.

Orders that have already been processed may not be cancelled. This may include orders for which products have been prepared, packaged, transferred, ordered specifically for the Buyer, or committed for shipment.

Tersus will review the status of the order and advise whether cancellation is still possible and whether any charges or other obligations apply.

Sales Tax

Will I be charged sales tax?

Tersus Environmental collects sales tax in states where we are registered and required to do so. Sales tax is determined based on the delivery location, the products being purchased, and applicable state and local tax requirements at the time of shipment.

If sales tax is not collected on your purchase, your organization may still be responsible for reporting and remitting applicable use tax directly to the appropriate taxing authority.

In which states does Tersus collect sales tax?

Tersus Environmental is currently registered to collect sales tax on orders delivered to addresses in:

California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Registration requirements may change. The applicable sales tax treatment will be based on the delivery location and requirements in effect at the time of shipment.

How do I Ccaim a resale or tax exemption?

Sales tax may be removed from an order upon receipt of a valid Resale Certificate or Tax-Exempt Certificate applicable to the delivery location.

The certificate should clearly identify the purchaser and the products or transactions that qualify for exemption. Please provide the applicable certificate when placing your order so the exemption can be reviewed before the invoice is finalized.

If only certain products on an order qualify for exemption, sales tax will continue to apply to any taxable items.
